Culina Group crowns 25th anniversary year with five major industry accolades

In its 25th anniversary year Culina Group’s spectacular growth trajectory has been recognised with the achievement of five high profile national awards presented by leading UK Industry organisations and associations, Motor Transport, the Road Haulage Association, the UK Warehouse Association, and TCS&D.

Culina Group named Motor Transport Haulier of the Year 2019

Culina Group has won – “Motor Transport - Haulier of the Year 2019” - the most prestigious award in UK Logistics at the 33rd Motor Transport Awards held recently at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London's Park Lane.

Culina Group CEO Thomas van Mourik, and Company Secretary Nigel Jury were presented with the coveted accolade by Motor Transport Editor Steve Hobson and TV Celebrity Omid Djalili, in front of the “who’s who” of UK Logistics at a spectacular evening which is widely considered to be the “Oscars” for the UK transport and logistics industry.

Culina Group Wins UKWA Logistics Service Provider of the Year Award Culina Group won a major UK Operator Accolade recently, at the UKWA Awards. Michael Pepper, Development Manager at Culina Group was presented with the award for 'Logistics Service Provider of the Year' at the prestigious event which took place at the Dorchester Hotel in London on 27th June 2019 following the UKWA's 75th Anniversary Lunch.

IPS Acquires FoodPack

IPS, the UK’s market leading co-packing business has announced an agreement to take over FoodPack Limited as from Monday 3rd December 2018. The terms of the agreement, including consideration, have not been disclosed.

IPS is already the market leader in co-packing and by acquiring FoodPack its expanded business is significantly extending the company’s overall service offering. FoodPack operates from an 80,000 sq. ft. facility and 9 acre site in St Helens Lancashire and employs over 150 staff. Turnover in 2018 is over £14 million.

Culina Logistics Win Major UK Operator Accolade

Culina Logistics won a major UK Operator Accolade recently, at the TCS&D Awards - the “Oscars” for the Chilled Logistics Sector.

Steve Winwood, Culina Logistics CEO was presented with the award for Temperature Controlled Storage Operator of the Year by FSDF Chief Executive – Chris Sturman.

Culina Group Acquires Robsons (of Spalding)

Culina Group has announced the acquisition of Robsons (of Spalding) as from Monday 2nd July 2018. The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

The acquisition is a logical next step for both businesses and it made strong commercial sense for Culina Group to bring Robsons (of Spalding) into the family.

Culina drivers win national recognition with Microlise award for Driver Excellence

Culina Group won national recognition recently in the Microlise Driver of the Year Awards at the Ricoh Arena Coventry.

The Microlise Awards each year recognise the UK’s most talented HGV drivers, acknowledge the vital work they do, and the professionalism with which they carry out their work.

Culina Group backs petition to help fund the cost of redistributing more surplus food to charity

Culina Group is backing a formal petition launched by The Grocer (magazine) that asks ministers to reconsider subsidising food waste distribution to get more surplus food to charity.

Currently, it can cost up to £150 per tonne to separate, store and transport edible surplus food to charity. If this cost were reimbursed far more of the 270,000 tonnes of edible surplus in the system would go to people who need it. For only £10-15m per year, 100,000 tonnes of food could be donated.

Culina Group, the UK market-leading provider of shared-user logistics services for food and drink companies, has announced an agreement to enter in to a joint venture with Warrens Group, the UK market leader in baked goods logistics, effective 1st March 2018.

Culina Logistics Milton Keynes Receive FTAvision Compliance Award

The team at Culina Logistics Milton Keynes have been awarded the FTAvision Compliance Award for the third year running.

The FTAvision Compliance Award is presented to the Culina site that has, over a complete calendar year, kept their EU driver’s hours and working time rule infringements to a minimum when matched against other Culina sites.

Culina Group Driver Michael Young picks up Microlise Short Distance Driver of the Year Award

Culina Group Driver Michael Young from Great Bear Hoddesdon has won the 'Short Distance Driver of the Year' award at the 2017 Microlise Driver of the Year Awards. Michael was chosen from 120,000 drivers who were entered in the competition over nine categories. What makes this an impressive achievement is that 80% of Michaels journeys are in central London!

Culina Group Enters Into Joint Venture With Morgan McLernon

Culina Group, the UK market-leading provider of shared-user logistics services for food and drink companies, has announced an agreement to enter in to a joint venture with Morgan McLernon as from Monday 1st May 2017.

The joint venture is a logical next step for both companies. Due to the strong partnership between Morgan McLernon and Culina Group business CML, it made great sense for Culina Group to bring Morgan McLernon into the family.

A positive year ahead for Culina Logistics

For the rapidly expanding Culina Group, 2016 was all about Great Bear. This year it is the turn of Culina Logistics, as the company’s long established Chilled logistics division announces its growth plans.

Port Salford Team Recognised At Supply Chain Excellence Awards

Culina Group, General Mills UK and Peel Ports have been recognised as the 'Team of the Year' at the recent Logistics & Supply Chain Excellence Awards, following the opening of the Port Salford warehouse and distribution facility near Manchester earlier this year.

The event held on Monday 14th November at the London Hilton on Park Lane was attended by some of the biggest names in the UK logistics and transport sector.

Port Salford Initiative Takes Top Supply Chain Award

Culina Group and General Mills UK & Ireland have scooped the Warehouse Operations Award at the CILT (Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport) Annual Awards for Excellence.

The event on Thursday 27 October was held at London’s Lancaster Hotel and featured some of the biggest names in the UK logistics and transport sector.

Culina Group wins TCS&D Award for Environmental & Sustainability

On Tuesday 14th September 2016, Culina Group Marketing & Communications Manager Paul Willocks proudly accepted the TCS&D Award for commitment to ‘Environmental and Sustainability’, presented by star of TV game show ‘The Chase’ Paul Sinha in front of hundreds industry professionals.

The event, which took place at the British Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, celebrated excellence in the temperature controlled logistics industry across a number of categories. Culina Group won the Environmental and Sustainability award for their visionary tri-modal concept at Port Salford which went live earlier in 2016 and also for the continuous improvements made to their fleet.

Culina Charity Cycle Ride for MacMillan Cancer Support

A team of cyclists from Culina Group including Mike Roberts, Tony Kay, Paul Giddings, Carl Tolley, Daniel Muller, Paul Jacobs, Wojceich Jastrzebski and Paul Barnes recently took part in a charity cycle ride in support of MacMillan Cancer Support. The event started at Hoddesdon on Sunday 4th September where the team received a very warm welcome and a fine send off from the staff. The cyclists set off from Hoddesdon at midday arriving at Haverhill later in the day.

Culina Group with General Mills wins SHD Logistics Award for New Facility

On Thursday 15th September 2016, the team from Culina Group and General Mills proudly accepted the SHD Logistics Award for New Facility, presented by leading comedian Mark Watson in front of 600 industry professionals.

The event, which took place at Resorts World Birmingham, celebrated excellence in the logistics industry across eleven main categories. Culina Group won the new facility award for their visionary collaboration with General Mills at Port Salford, the UK’s first Tri-modal logistics facility. The Port Salford depot went live earlier in 2016.

General Mills collaboration at Port Salford gains CILT recognition

The visionary collaboration at Port Salford between Culina Group and General Mills was recognised at the 2016 CILT North West Annual Awards recently. The Awards were attended by leading logistics and transport professionals at a gala event at the Titanic Hotel Liverpool.

The “CILT Warehouse Operations Award” was presented to Culina Group for “World class performance in warehouse operations that demonstrate continuous improvement and productivity utilising the most appropriate equipment and software and a fully engaged workforce”.
